Poringland Parish Council is working closely with Norfolk County Council Highways department and the various companies that are currently carrying out works which require traffic management. The Council understands the frustration that the delays are causing and has highlighted problems which have been quickly rectified, including enforcing the manual control of lights at peak hours to help with the flow of traffic.

Grant funding is available for youth organisations to make an application, with a total fund of £2,000. Applications should be made in writing to the Parish Clerk by emailing [email protected]. The closing date is 12noon Friday 15th January 2016. Applicants will be asked to attend the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 27th January 2016 at 7pm to present their application and answer questions. Rectory Lane, Poringland will be closed from St Mary's Road to The Street from Monday 5th October to Friday 9th October. A diversion route will be put in place.
NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made a Temporary Traffic Order affecting the C187 Rectory Lane from the junction with B1332 The Street northwards for a distance of 445m in the PARISH OF PORINGLAND because of footway works. The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 5th October 2015 to 9th October 2015 for the duration of the works, expected to be about 5 days within the period. Alternative route is via: C187 Upgate, C797 Long Road, B1332 The Street For users of the No. 87 Anglian Bus, the route from Long Road will not turn right into Rectory Lane as normal, but will instead divert left onto Rectory Lane, round past Upgate, onto Hall Road and back onto Long Road, where it will pick up the route just past Rectory Lane on The Street. Public information notices will be placed by the bus company at all affected bus stops on Rectory Lane. This planned work is to carry out improvements to the footway in Rectory Lane. Work will begin on Wednesday 14 October to carry out carriageway resurfacing works on B1332 Bungay Road, Bixley at the junction with Arminghall Lane. The surfacing works will be carried out overnight 7.00pm to 7.00 am and will take one night to complete.
During the resurfacing works traffic will be controlled using temporary traffic signals. It will also be necessary to close Arminghall Lane junction to all traffic whilst works are in progress. A fully signed local diversion via Stoke Road, Norwich Road, Caistor Lane and B1332 Norwich Road will be in place for the duration of the works. Access to businesses and properties on Arminghall Lane will be maintained from Stoke Road only. The County Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. Work will begin on, or shortly after Monday 7 September 2015 to overlay the existing footway both sides for the whole length of Rectory Lane. The work is expected to take approximately 8 weeks to complete.
There will be a road closure on Rectory Lane at the Junction with B1332/210 for 5 days. Temporary lights will be used for further 7 weeks to control traffic during lane closures. A local signed diversion route will be put in place during the closure and vehicular access to properties will be maintained during the works and disruption will be kept to a minimum. Emergency services and bus operators will be informed of the closure. The County Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. The work which will cost £32,100 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors. On Friday 24th July 2015 Poringland Parish Council was pleased to hear that they had been awarded the Local Council Award Scheme 'Foundation' Award. The Local Council Award Scheme is administered by the National Association of Local Councils and provides a benchmark for town and parish councils in determining performance. The Foundation award is the entry level status, demonstrating that the Council is undertaking all its statutory obligations. The Award provides evidence to other authorities and local organisations that the Council is performing well, and enables partnerships to be formed with confidence.
Poringland Parish Council will now work towards the next level, 'Quality', and will make an application for this status when it becomes qualified to do so. Norfolk County Council and their contractors will be carrying out the installation of a new Toucan Crossing and improvements to convert the western footway into a shared use facility on B1332 Norwich Road in Poringland. Works will start on 27 July 2015 and end on 27 August 2015
These works will take place directly adjacent to Framingham Earl High School. Traffic management will include two-way signalised traffic controls. The County Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. The work which will cost £35,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
